where is and how to replace the camshaft position sensor on a 2001 Pontiac Montana v6 3.4 Thanks

It is located on the RH side of the engine, beneath the PS pump. You will need to remove the PS pump for access,( 3 bolts thru the pulley) the sensor is held in place by one bolt.

how did you do on this?

i just replaced mine last night, and it took so damn long to get one of the bolts back into the power steering pump. eventually my buddy figured out how to line it up - we took the two easy bolts and put them in without tightening them all the way, and then he was able to line up the third bolt by looking at it through a mirror, and even after we lined it up it was pretty tough to screw back in.

we eventually accomplished it, though.

is there a better way to do this? some trick to it?

(by the way, it was a 2000 pontiac grand am)
