2001 Pontiac Montana with 192,000Kms on it, the entire engine bay smells like Coolant and has been for a few years now, the coolant level drops very slowly, during the winter i can see vapors coming up from the sides of the radiator ( pinhole leaks?). Also The condenser has been likely damaged due to rocks and has leaks,

edit: bit of history, intake manifold gasket WAS replaced roughly 6-7 years ago. (not sure if it was the new version of gasket or same as factory, there is no coolant in the engine oil, nor is the coolant contaminated with engine oil)

anywhere i can download a detailed repair manual for the radiator and condenser? ( my friend has a car lift in his garage, i have a large assortment of tools , he also has air powered tools at his disposal). I can change oil and do basic maintenance but this is probably the first major repair job ive ever wanted to do on a car. ( other wise my mechanic said roughly 400-500$ to replace the radiator.

first step is determine that it is the rad leaking, try a pressure tester , sometimes your local auto parts will lend this tool out or take van to rad shop and they will do it for you or last resort is take out the rad and take it to rad shop for testing. If the rad is leaking then get an estimate for repair but............ keep in mind a new rad only costs ~$100 . I get most of my parts from rockauto.com they are about the cheapest around but you do have to wait for shipping. Good luck and keep us informed.

im pretty sure the rad is fubar, the entire engine bay smells like coolant after the engine warms up to operating temperature, engine does not show symptoms of head gasket or intake manifold gasket failure. As for the AC condenser, it shows physical damage from rocks so i know that needs to be replaced.

Anyone know where i can download a service manual online for this vehicle? Im more worried about how to replace the A/C condenser.

havent seen any complete online service manuals. You can google for the procedure or get a Hanes manual.
