I have a 2001 Montana that was skipping when you showered down on the accelerator and flashing the check engine light. Yesterday i changed the spark plugs and wires which had never been changed before and that problem is fixed now. It runs completely normal until it decides it just wants to quit.
We were driving down the road last night and we were coming up to a red light and the engine just shuts off. I look down at the guages and everything looks normal except the RPM guage drops to zero and the battery indicator light appears. It doesn't stumble then shut off, it just shuts off like you turned the key switch off.
We put it in neutral while we were still moving and it fired right up and we kept driving to the movies. It did it again when we were looking for a parking spot. After the movie it didn't do it anymore the rest of the night.

you never see a check engine light?

I have been having the same sort of problem. My 1999 montana just decides to die for no apparent reason while driving down the road, put it in neutral and it will restart after a try or 2. The stalling seems to happen under any conditions (cold, hot, damp). Everything else has power when it stalls but the tach drops to 0(obviously). It doesn't do it all the time, but has seemed to be worse lately. Want to nip this problem in the butt before we get stranded this winter. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx
