2.2 Ecotec Engine
5 Speed Manual transmission
94,500 miles
Driving today I took a sharp right turn in 2nd gear, when I went to speed back up and shift gears I couldn't get into third. At the stop light I realized I couldn't get it in first either. 2nd, 4th and reverse work perfectly. My stick is not bouncing up or down and is fully functional except there seems to be a wall keeping me from getting in 1st, 3rd or 5th gear. There is no grinding or any noise what so ever when i attempt to go into 1st, 3rd or 5th gear. Clutch is fully functional.
I believe the bushing in the shift cable assembly has worn out. Atleast from what I have been reading, this seems to be the common denominator in a couple of other pontiac cars that use the same shift cable assembly. However, I am at a complete loss of knowing what the shift cable looks like on a 5 speed manual, nor am I able to locate it under the hood.
My question to yall is where in the world is the shift cable assembly located, and as a follow up should I even waste my time trying to fix the bushing before taking it in to have it looked at.
