2001 sunfire gt cooling fan switch

I have a 2001 Sunfire GT 2.4L. The radiator cooling fan is not turning on. I checked the 30 amp fuse under the hood and swapped the relay with the one next to it. Can someone tell me if the cooling fan (on & off) operates from the same sensor that operates the gauge on the dash.

Have you tried applying power directly to the fan motor? It doesnt work with the A/C on? There is only one sensor for both functions.

I will try putting power to the fan. No the fan is off when using the a/c as well. The gauge works well so it sounds like it could be the fan.
