2001 Sunfire Radio LOCKED

Has anyone had this unlocked without going to the dam dealership. My buddy has the CD/CASSETTE and had to change the starter and removed the - battery cable and now his radio says LOCKED and not LOC as stated on the internet. Can someone please help us?

too late now but a 9 volt battery hooked to the cigarette lighter would have prevented this. Have not come across any other fix other than dealer. Shop around to different dealers to find the least costly.
