Hey guys! I noticed that on the front passenger window, the top weather stripping that separates the roof from the window is not as tight as it used to be. At the moment it looks like the weather stripping that's right beside the side mirror is more loose than the stripping that is closer to the front door handle(so only a small portion of stripping is effected). By loose I mean that you can stick a credit card or an envelope in-between the window and the stripping. Now, from what I read online people suggested that as long as water is not coming into the car, "to not worry about it" but!! although water is not entering into the car, I do notice that the interior window liner is lower than the stripping outside(when you roll up the window, it looks closed sooner on the inside than outside because the window kind of ends and the glass goes up a bit more), thus all the water gets stopped by the inner window lining (which I do not like- also when I roll down the window i can feel the interior lining that ends the window on the inside kind of moist, but when i move along I notice that same interior lining is unaffected due to the tight weather stripping further down the same window.) After closer inspection of my car, I noticed that all the other stripping around other windows are perfectly fine and its just this one specific window with only 8cm of stripping affected (If i tilt my head and look at the stripping I can see that the window is completely rolled up but I am able to see a small crack from the window to where the stripping should be covering (kind wierd to explain but I am thinking I can post a few pictures if you guys dont understand what I am saying). I tried pushing the stripping back in hoping that it would maybe make the molding become tight like it used to be around the window, but that clearly didn't fix it for more than a few seconds......From what I am reading online it would be very expensive to fix.
People are saying to replace the whole stripping, but because its only a small section that's affected and the rest of the stripping has a tight seal with the window, I am thinking I can perhaps do a DIY fix for it.
At the moment I am thinking of putting just a little black tape (making sure its the same size of the stripping so it doesnt show, lol) under the stripping so when I close the window it will be closer to the window (thus blocking out more water from attempting to get stuck in-between the glass and stripping) I am thinking this would solve my problem, but I would have to keep reapplying tape.....I was thinking maybe there is a method for getting the perfect seal back, that I have on other car windows with the stripping.. I dont know how this even happend.
What do you guys think I can do?
