2002 2.2L Gas & Brake pedal sideways play

Hello,

I was at a stop light earlier today and noticed I could wiggle my gas and brake pedal side to side, the gas pedal moves probably about a few cm each way and the brake pedal only moves slightly both ways. I was wondering if this is normal and if it's not how I can fix it. Any help would be appreciated!

I believe every car I have ever driven has had some side play in the gas pedal, they have a pivot point at the pedal, the brake pedal doesnt. Compare it to any other car to start with, how long have you owned the car?

I'm the original owner of the car, and thanks I'll compare the pedals later tonight when I have access to another car.

Sorry for the late response(been very busy), anyways in the other car that I tested the brake pedal in it didn't move left to right.

you may have a worn bushing on the pedal where is pivots on the shaft. Have you looked under the dash to see if there is obvious failure of the bushing?
