2002 Birds

Hello All,

I am new to the site, hoping to talk to user and learn more about the 2 v-8s in the 2002 Trans Am's and other Mods.

Presently I own a 2002 Firebird V6 Convertibles (Hey I have Teenagers). Both kids are taking them to college now and I need a new toy. I am look at a couple 2002 Trans Am's one with the Standard V8 and the other with the WS6?

Does anyone know if there is any reliability issues with either motor?

I see no difference between the base Trans Am LS1 engine and the WS6 performance option. Below are the components of the WS6 option. By 2002 any earlier issues were resolved, piston slap. The link is a general article on the LS1.
•Bigger Front Sway Bars
•Ram Air Hood and Bigger Air Box
•Bigger front sway bar
•Stiffer Springs
•Power Steering cooler

This is good Info. Thank you. So what did they do to get the extra 30HP?

Good Info. Thank You. If the Air Box is the only Engine upgrade, it is giving the WS6 and extra 30ponnies? not unheard of, just unexpected.

I believe the exhaust system maybe a factor also
