my 2002 pontiac grand am gt is making a grinding noise under the car when Accelerating could it be a bad cv axle or the Transmission?

A bad CV joint usually makes a noise when you are making a low speed turn. The noise could be from a number of things including the transmission. You need to have it up on a lift and try to locate the source.

i think the noise is coming from the transmission. and the transmission is shifting hard what i mean by that is when it shifts from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to third it shifts hard sound like the transmission is coming apart.it also shifts hard from park to drive do i need a transmission oil change?

That would be the first thing to try including a new filter but if you already have noise there may be damage, when is the last time you checked the fluid level?

drain the transmission fluid,
change transmission filter
have the torque conveter flushed
put fresh fluid in, put a full bottle of lucas stop slip in

see if that works,

(the reason i say have torque converter flushed is because it still contains old transmission fluid that will run into the fresh)

And one of the cv axle you can moved whit your hand could that be the hard shifting?
