2002 Pontiac Grand Am question about code P0404?

My check Engine light came on in my car and the car has been idling real bad especially when i go up hills. But going down hills i have no problems at all I just wanted to know if it was the EGR VALVE for sure someone let me know please and thank you. The code is P0404

EGR circuit range/performance. You apparently have an electric controlled egr valve and the circuit is not working correctly. This could be the valve itself or the wiring connections. Need to do some diagnistics.
