so I purchased this car 2 months ago from a private seller and once I got it to my father sooo many things were wrong! the most funny is the bolts that held on the maifold fell out! these people didnt take care of this car but i thought it was a great price for the money. boy! I was wrong! sits a 2002 sunfire coupe. I have replaced the thermostate, water pump, upper hose, lower hose, spark wires, spark plugs, transmission filter (with fluid change), air filter, fuel filter, and oil filter with fluid change. things still pending to be replaced ( rotar, rear breaks, and a new tire). so here is my question. after all that replaced on the cooling system and putting in a new 180 thermostate the car will not run below 200 degrees!!! My dad thought it was air in the system but we have bled it out 3 times and ran 3 cleaners thru the radiator and still no change! the only thing my dad said is left to replace is the radiator and heater core. My dad said don't replace them but its better than a seized engine! I am here to know if there is anything else possible that could be making this car overheat like this??? I have checked the fan and it does kick on so I don't think the fan is the issue. I have read many forums and this seems to be a major issue with this model car, but have read nothing about a resolution. someone pls help! any input is great! I'm no mechanic but after this car I may switch professions :) this is the first and last sunfire I ever get! thanks (source: 21 year old female going against my fathers opinions!)
