2002 sunfire 2200 questions

How can I tell which motor is in this 2002 I just bought?

I also was trying to check the trans fluid level yesterday and couldnt locate the trans dip stick .

If you have a 2.4l it will say so on the valve cover otherwise you have the 2.2l. There is no dipstick you place the car on a lift and open the fill plug just like you would do on a manual transmission.

Thanks for that info on trans.

No writing on valve cover and I see that there was two 2.2 listed for the 2002. 115hp and the later 140hp ecotech.

I read that there is a letter in the serial number that tells which motor, but I cant locate that info again.

but mel you got to check the fluid while its idling or it will gush out the check plug...............
