2002 sunfire dash lights out

This just happened to me on friday. My issue is weird.
I will start my car with a remote starter and I can see all of the lights are on like normal. As soon as I press down on the brake, that's when the dash lights, the heating/ac lights and the gear shifter lights go off. My radio lights stay on.
When I start my car with the key, none of the above mentioned lights are on at all
This car is 9 years old and it is starting to become a money pit.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

look into the wires in the headlight light switch. I recall the previous owner of mine having the same issue, and it ended up being in the light switch wires were shorting
