2002 Sunfire with P1441

Greetings Fellow Sunfire Peeps,

So my 02 sunfire just gave me a P1441 code, the Canister Purge Valve Solenoid is acting up. I am writing on here as I would like to replace it, I just have no clue where it is located.

Please some help finding it, as I would like to do the repair myself and desperately need assistance.

It would be helpful to know if you have the 2.2 or the 2.4 liter engine

Normally these valves get stuck open which triggers a trouble code.

You can check this valve with a vacuum gauge here is a link showing how to test this valve. this test just checks to see if the valve is stuck open.

A engine with many miles on it will cause this valve to stick open prematurely if the rings and or valve seals are worn.

So do not be surprised if this happens again in a few years.
