2003 electrical issues

2 months ago, wifes batt light came on, car ran till the batt died, and she was stuck. No problem, probably the alternator, so I changed it. Car ran for 6 weeks, same scenerio happened all over again. Took the alt back to autozone, they tested it, said is was good, and gave me a new one to make me happy. Put that one in, and now car wont shift out of third, gauges dont work, car revs up and down on its own, ac dont work, generally anything electrical is crazy. Checked and cleaned all connections from batt to alt to fuse block. Still no help. Alt seems like it's no providing power. What am I missing here???? ( Also had a PO620 and a PO 560 Code)

Did you take the battery to autozone to have it tested? if the battery is weak, even with a new alternator, your computer and associated circuits will not work correctly.

Actually doing that tonight on the way home. I sure hope the battery is the problem...........

AutoZone checked the battery, and apparently (1) cell was shorted. Installed a new battery, and a 20 mile trip proved uneventful so far. I guessing the first alternator took the battery with it when it died. Must have been fading for the last 6 weeks. Much better than other possible outcomes. Thanks for all the help!!!
