Hi, I was hoping someone could give me some feedback/pointers/advice on narrowing down what could be wrong with my car. This is my first Pontiac and I'm getting ready to take an extensive road trip from Virginia to New Mexico and I need her to run
. I've got a 2003 Pontiac Vibe base model, automatic, FWD, 1.8L L4, that I just purchased. The check engine light came on and when scanned gives diagnostic code P0171 System Too Lean (Bank1). I've been doing a lot of research and that code can be caused by a lot of things. The rpms on startup are around 2000! Also, it seems a bit sluggish, especially when going uphill. I put a new air filter and cabin filter in and I cleaned the MAF sensor and the throttle plate, which was super dirty. And about a week ago I tested the ignition coils by unplugging one at a time, and they all seem to be working, albeit they could use a cleaning, if that's even a thing. I also changed all the spark plugs. The old ones were toast. Since having changed them, the car seems to hesitate upon startup and is idling rougher than before. In the next week or two I plan to change the transmission fluid (gasket, filter, and pan also), do an oil and oil filter change, put a new valve cover gasket on, replace the intake manifold gasket; throttle body gasket, and IACV gasket. Hopefully one of these will remedy the issue. I also have the following parameters from the freeze frame read by the OBDII. I don't know what these mean or what the parameters should be:
Freeze frame DTC = P0171
Fuel system status = 0
Engine load - calculated value = 20.39%
Engine coolant temperature = 158°F
Short term fuel trim (B1) = 19.53%
Long term fuel trim (B1) = 17.97%
Engine speed = 1315rpm
Vehicle speed = 28mph
Intake air temperature = 44.6°F
Does anyone have any input? Should I go ahead and change out the O²sensors while I'm at it? I appreciate any input.
