Love my little grand Am. Started by not starting one morning. Dash lit up but NOTHING from the starter. Took it out had it tested (O'Reilly's). Passed. Cleaned it up, reinstalled, started. Battery and then ABS lights came on.

8 months ago went through passlock ordeal and by-passed with the resistor trick. Replaced battery. 6 mo ago replaced alternator. So I'm aware of the sequence of warning lights that appear as the battery dies.

Back to present. Had Alternator tested at O'Reilly's. Passed. Swapped out cables. 2 from + terminal to Starter and fuse block. One from alternator to Starter. Engine started fine but batt light came on. Meter on battery showed below 12v and counting down steadily at idle and rev.

I hear of a fusible link but can't get clear on where that is or goes. Where does the small wire at the starter soleniod go? Where else can I look for why there is no charging going on? Fuses to look at?

I have the Haynes and read through chap 5. I'm going to drive the vehicle to O'Reilly's to have them test the battery and Alt "in circuit".

Any clues on where to look and what else to track down would be greatly appreciated. I love working on my cars and trucks but electrical always seems to kick my butt. Thanks...Patric
