I have a 2003 Pontiac grand am v6. I last week I tried to start the car early in the morning and it would just crank and crank and crank but would not fire up. A few hours later I gave it one last shot before I had it towed and it fired right up. okay no big deal, the next day the same issue occurred once i had it towed the shop tried it and it started right up. they let it sit until the next day and it again did not start. they replaced the crank sensor along with a modual under or around the spark plugs (i understand that it controls the spark) I'm not too good with cars so cut me some slack. Anyways they replaced those parts said it was all fine but this morning i tried again and still nothing!!! Any ideas. My boss tells me he thinks its a security issue but the security light is only on when all the other dash lights are on prior to starting the car, once i turn the key the security light goes off. at this point I will take any advice I can get. Please Help me!!

Ignition module? make sure your getting spark and fuel. When you turn key to on position you should here the fuel pump priming.

yes they replacecd the ignition modual, so there is spark, and the fuel pump is good also

when you turn the key to start it do you hear the fuel pump kicking in for a few seconds, especially the times when it wont start?

you know I never really paid any attention to that its at a shop now or i would check. They said the fuel pump is fine but I dont think they know what in the hell they are doing

well if you dont hear the pump everytime you go to start the car, you either have a problem with the pump or the relay which turns it on. I assume the check engine light is not on?

no it is not. its just ood tho because in the mornings it will not start bu in the afternoons it will

another common problem can be the ignition switch.

most definitely, the contacts wear and sometimes they work and sometimes they dont. Some people claim if you have a lot of stuff hanging on your key fob it will cause the switch to fail over long time periods, cannt verify that though.
