2003 Montana Won't Crank

I just swapped a engine in my 2003 Montana. When i go to turn the key the PRND123 Doesn't light up and it won't crank. I can put the shiftier in R and the reverse lights come on. I can take the relay off and jump the starter wires and it will start and run great. Everything worked before the swap. Any ideas to look?

did you carefully check whether it starts when the shifter is placed in any of the other gear positions?

it would start in any position because i jumping it on the relay by the radiator

I realize that, if you try to start it the normal way will it start in reverse, or any of the forward gears, trying to establish an issue with the neutral safety switch.
