hello,
I'm working on my sister car a 2003 Pontiac grand am with a 3.4 liter engine.
the vehicle has a crank no start, vehicle also died while on the freeway and hasn't started since. i verified that there is fuel at the shrader valve, and spark at both the coil packs and spark plugs. i retrieved 4 dtc they are p0440, p0401, p0420, and p0325. all codes where also pending giving my auto zone pocket scanner a total of 8 dtc. I fell as though the egr valve may be the issue but i don't want to shotgun parts at it and hope it works. any help would be appreciated.

oh yeah forgot to post i tried doing the key security by pas trick of waiting 10-15 minutes and still no start

Without knowing the fuel pressure at the valve, spray tells you nothing. Rent or borrow a tester. None of the other codes should cause a no start condition but they should be taken care of to prevent further problems. is the security light on?

the security light is not on, and i will have to wait until tomorrow to get a hold of a pressure gauge. nearest auto tool rental place is 30 miles away. what should the pressure be? thanks for the help melsg5

If your Grand Am seemed to lose power before it died, you could have a clogged catalytic converter. Assuming your spark/fuel tests are ok. Unscrew your O2 sensor and see if it starts that way to check it, or you can unbolt the exhaust pipe from the manifold. Whichever is easier.
