My Sunfire has been driving great no real problems until Saturday morning when I got in and crunk it up and it made this God awful noise that it had never made before on the right side then went I went to take off it would not accelerate but it moved slowly. Do I need a new timing chain or is it something else?

It could be the timing chain tensioner has failed or some other component located in the front of the engine. Do not drive it other than to take it somewhere for repair assuming you are not going to try to fix it yourself.
