Hi all, I have a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire that has 77k miles on it. Up to this point the only problem I have had is needing the fuel pump replaces. However while I was driving on the free way my car lost power. The electrical still worked but it would simply no longer accelerate. Once I stopped I could not get the engine to turn over again. I had it towed to a garage and they said that my Timing Chain broke and caused all kinds of valve damage. I took it to another mechanic and so far he has told me that yes the Timing chain broke but he is still checking to see if there is valve damage. Has anyone heard of this before?? What the heck have I done wrong to have a chain break?? I have looked all over the web and everyone says that chains don't break. Even my mechanic said its crazy to see a chain break at only 77K? could I have a defective part? I am sure this is going to cost me more than the car is even worth. Has anyone else had problems like this?
