Hi all,

Trying to determine the towing capacity of a 2004 montana, base model. Just the standard v6, 3.4L FWD 4-speed auto.

The specs all say that it can go UP TO 3500 pounds with the appropriate components, none of which I have. Then, for the base model, I've seen numbers ranging from 1500-2500 pounds. Can anyone confirm the actual towing capacity for the 2004 base model?

thanks!!

Hi !
Actual towing capacity for the base model Pontiac Montana = 3500 lbs.
(The owners manual says 2000 lbs with two occupants and 1400 lbs with up to six occupants. Then it says if I have the optional towing package, I can tow 3500 or 2900 lbs respectively)

P.S.
According to the specs the trailer towing package is as follows:
... "Package - Trailer Towing: 1588 kg (3500 lb.) capacity, includes heavy-duty radiator and transmission oil cooler, trailer wiring harness, heavy-duty signal flasher and higher output alternator (does not include hitch); includes automatic rear level control and accessory inflator kit."
... Notice that the hitch is not installed at time of manufacture.

thanks for the replies! Most of the time it'll just be one or two occupants, so I'm thinking if I keep it under 2000 (probably more like 1800 just to be safe) I should be fine. Thanks!!
