Hello,

Excuse me if this has been asked and answered, but I recently purchased a remanufactured radio for my '04 Grand Am GT with the U85 Monsoon audio system. I know the radio has to be programed with my car's VIN# at the dealer, my question is once the dealer programs the radio to my car, what happens when it comes time to change the battery? I prefer to have the Theftloc system activated, so will the radio lock and have to be re-programed again at the dealer or can I have my own unlock code programed into it?...Thanks!

Dave:)

I assume you mean car battery, the memory that stores the code, the VIN of the vehicle, is not volatile, so it wont loose it.

Sorry...yes car battery...that is good to know!

I transplanted a Delco Theftloc radio from a 1999 Grand Prix into my '86 TA and programed my own code so I can lock and unlock the radio anytime...after the dealer reprograms it will I be able to do the same with this new generation Theftlock radio?...TIA!

Dave :)

I would recommend checking the owners manual never heard of programming your own code

The unlock code for the Delco Theftloc in my Trans Am is "1986"

I have one of the older Delco Theftlocs...if you have an unlock code you use the Hr/Min and AM/FM buttons to unlock it...when I bought the radio the guy gave me step by step instructions on how to program my own 4 digit unlock code...real handy because I pull the car battery every year for winter storage.
