I like to work on my 2004 Pontiac Grand Am a lot, and sometimes I need to leave it running in my garage to make sure I don't mess something in the engine up, and I was wondering if I could get carbon monoxide poisoning from that? I know it has a catalytic converter in it, but is it still safe to run the car even with a catalytic converter, sometimes I take a good 3 hours out of my day to mess with it if that says anything

Are you kidding? You run your car in the garage? Even if the garage door is open, it's never "safe". You can still get CO poisoning. I've been a little poisoned myself once. Dizziness, tightening of the chest, etc. it's not something to mess with. The "safest" way is to run a tube of some sort from the exhaust pipe outside and leave the door open if you can. Even with a cat theres plenty of CO to kill you.
