...problem? my 2004 grand am has a problem about not starting. engine turns over. i can leave it alone for a while and it will start. this is not a continous problem, but it has quit running twice in heavy interstate traffic. fuel pump can be heard most of time and it starts then. but at times you can not hear pump and it wont start. also i heard while i was about to turn a corner, a electrical bzzz and the car quit- no dash lights, radio, etc. it did restart when i put it neutral and turned the key. and also sometimes the car starts but there is a delay in the dash lights, buzzer seat belt chime coming on, usually about 30-45 secs. my husband thinks it is fuel pump, but i think the problems are all related somehow. HELP! I don't wont to replace an costly part when I not convinced.
I had the relay problem a few months ago and replaced relay. Worked for a while . this time we just switched the a.c. relay around. I had to have the car towed 60 miles and it started up right after. ($175.00 mistake). I have been driving around short distances less than 20 miles around town with out problems. drove it to the commuter van stop and parked it for 10hrs and it would not start upon return. It would turn over but not start. Could not hear fuel pump then after a while of charging battery, it started.and pump could be heard. I plan on getting new relay again but something has got to be shorting them out I THINK. Thanks for suggestions.

fuel pump relay costs about 15 dollars at auto zone 100% positive...

Sounds like you have an electrical issue OTHER than a relay or fuel pump if the ignition , dash and radio are going down I would think you either have a short or a wire that is warn and causing an open (intermittantly) I would suggest checking all terminal connections and the battery posts for corrosion and bad grounds ..
