Qs? 2 questions. There is a reading on my 2004 Pontiac Montana that says Oil and a number, what is it? Couldn't find the answer in the manual. I thought it would reset when we had it changed, but it did not.
Had oil changed 2 weeks ago and fluids checked and now check engine light is on. It is nearing 50,000 with no problems. Is it standard for check engine light to come on at 49500?

TIA

the number is percent oil life remaining.the change oil light is reset by fully depressing the accelerator petal three times within five seconds with the key on and engine off on your vehicle. the check or service engine light does not come on in a set miledge on your car. it could be anything in the emmissions system including the fuel cap being left loose.autozone can read the dtc(diagnostic trouble code) for you and let you know exactly what is is.in the owners manual look for "engine oil when to change" probly in section six.

well like most GMs you have to reset it by using your radio!!!

Yes the radio does it, go to your manual it will show the instructions on doing so.

On my Chevy I have to hold down the tune button with the radio off but the car has to be on choke mode, not crunk up!! And a menu should pop up, navigate to the oil light and you should see reset oil
