2004 sunfire blower motor noise

i have a 2004 sunfire, when I have the blower motor on defrost it clicks, the minute I change it to recirculated air, the noise goes away. The minute I try to switch it back the clicking starts again. Can anyone tell me what this is?

it sounds like an issue with the selector door assuming nothing has fallen down the defroster duct causing the noise.
