Hi everyone, I am new to forum and was hoping for a little help.

My 2004 Pontiac Sunfire window defogger does not currently work. A week ago when pressing the button it would engage and light up, but the window would not defrost. Then I tried a few days later and now the button will not engage and the light does not turn on. I have checked the fuse and it is okay, how can I fix this?

Thanks

It sounds from your description that the switch needs to be replaced.

Thanks for the reply about the switch needing to be replaced. I am going to go to an get one from the junker. I now have a few more questions:

My defroster light used to turn on but it would not defrost the window. Then a few weeks later it stopped lighting up. Could it have shorted out because of a different issue than just the switch?

Because the window defroster light does not turn on, does that mean the switch is definitely broken?

Do I need to buy the whole climate control panel?

Is removing the climate control easy and do I need to worry about the airbags deploying?

Also my rear speakers do not work, could this be related to the window defroster issue?

I have checked all the fuses, is there any relays or wiring spots to check?

Thanks for the advice.

You need to use a voltmeter to answer yours questions. You have to see if current is going into the switch and also out of the switch. You also should check for current at the wire grid connection in the back.
The rear speakers probably are a seperate issue unless somehow the main harness going to the back of the car has been damaged.
