2005 Grand Am SE Starting Problem

This thread went inactive for over a month when I made my first post. I was having the exact same issue as op. I noticed his was apparently never resolved and the thread went cold. So I basically bumped the thread and thought it would be beneficial for us both (if he ever came back which he finally did 2 months later). Call it whatever you want, but I'm just trying to be helpful in letting you know what I tried and where I stand in hopes that it helps you.

I understand but also realize people have to go back every time now to figure out which one of the two of you did what. Let's move on to your problem.

Did you test the other components I previously mentioned in post #15?

the passlock kills the fuel pump at the relay,if you pull out the relay and use a jumper wire from pin 30 to 87 with key on the fuel pump will stay on.

Another thought, when trying to start the car turn the key to the run position and wait till the fuel pump stops and then turn the key to engage the starter.

I have now replaced the ignition switch, spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter, coil packs, and still have the same starting problem. When the key is turned, the fuel pump kicks in fine and I can hear it run for a few seconds. Still, I have a starting problem. Any other suggestions?

I recommend looking at replacing the Idle Air Control Valve. I went ahead and replaced mine for 35 bucks and it seems to have fixed my problem so far. If nothing else, test it according to the link in post #15 and clean it.

Did you test the fuel pressure?
