2005 Pontiac Pursuit Alarm goes off when opening with key

I have a 2005 Pontiac Pursuit. The remote openers have never worked well - the lock never works (even on brand new ones) and the unlock doesn't keep working for a long time. They both no longer work.... and when I open the door with the key, the alarm goes off. I have tried to put it in passive and RTK (I think) mode - does not help. Even if I manually lock the doors (which is supposed to mean the alarm system does not arm), the alarm still goes off when I unlock the door with the key.

Any ideas on what is going on and what I can do? Is there a fuse I can remove that only disables the alarm? The only one I can find is the "horn" fuse, which, for obvious reasons, I don't want to remove.

Thanks in advance. :)

Only have access to G5 owners manual but see no separate fuse for alarm system. I saw no reference to manually locking preventing the alarm from activating. You appear to have an issue with the receiver, you did check the remote battery with a voltmeter?

Thanks for the response. It is mainly the alarm issue I am concerned with. Even if I don't look the doors, the alarm will arm after 1 minute, and when I open the door, the alarm goes off.

I know the remote is broken. The battery is fine; if I open it up and touch the circuit thing (the gold part on the green piece) with a piece of metal, the door unlocks fine. I have ordered a replacement pad from keylessfix.com, which should fix the problem of the remote not working.

But I would like to fix the alarm problem as well, so that I can use my key if I have to/get in my car after pumping gas without the alarm going off.

why would you lock your car and then have to use the key to open it when pumping gas? Your original statement was the alarm armed when you locked the car with the key.

Yes.

My original statement was regarding my original problem. I was saying the alarm arms itself even when it shouldn't.... it now arms itself even when the doors are not locked, therefore, the alarm goes off when I am finished pumping gas, even though the door is unlocked. But I do live in the "most dangerous city" in my country... so it might be in my best interest to lock my doors anyway.

To summarize:
The alarm goes off: when doors are opened when unlocked (after about 1 minute), when locked manually (after about 1 minute) and it goes off if the doors are locked by the automatic lock (inside, not on the remote).
I know the remote is broken - I will fix it. But I am wondering if there is a reason why my alarm goes off when it shouldn't (when opened with the key, when unlocked, etc).

The vehicle may have an issue with the BCM, body control module, but without hooking up a BCM scanner there is no way to be sure of the cause.
