2005 sunfire camshaft timing chain

does cam chain have a hydraulic tensioner--chain tightens up with oil pressure-chain is very sloppy when engine is off-also if engine has been run to point where metal guide between cam gears has been obliterated is it beyond help- compression is 150psi on 3 cylinders and 165 on 4th-theres 160000 miles on engine--some sear on cam-- thanks ray

Yes, there should be a tensioner and guide, both would be replaced along with chain and gears. The difference in compression is just within acceptable limits.
