I am having an issue with my air vents. They pretty much are all on all the time no matter what position I put the knob. I also have an issue where the knob gets stuck when going into max ac. With a little bit of pressure it will go in but it is pretty tight. I originally thought the Air Conditioning Air Inlet Door Actuator was bad but now I am not sure because of the knob getting stuck. What are your guys opinion on this? I can also post a video of what is going on if needed. Thanks muchly.

After doing more research and looking under my dash trying to see what is going on it looks as though this piece is getting stuck when changing the knob position. The cable is not kinked or anything so I am not sure what is going on. I tried moving it with my hand it it gets stuck at the same place so I am assuming the cable itself is fine.

if you disconnect the cable, does the cable move freely and does the air door move freely?

It was a huge pain to get the cable off but once I took it off I found that the cable/knob itself feels like it did when it worked right. The other piece is doing the same. Actually now that it was being messed with it now wont even go into max ac or the front air vents. All of the others click right in but not either of those now.

Actually that other piece went from clicking into place when I first took the cable off to being completely smooth by the time I was done putting the cable back on.

Oh its so sad to know about your air vents problem.Actually the best option for it to change the air vents and replace it with a new pair.Otherwise it will get the problem after some days of fixation.

If that is the case I am just going to say screw it and leave it as is. The defrost works and that is all that I really need anyways. I do not want to pay a mechanic a crazy amount to do it and I really do not want to take hours and hours replacing all of the air vents. Just curious though why would I replace all of the air vents. Seems to me like that would be pointless. I don't know why it would be them. They are essentially just an empty tube that connects to a flapper thing (Excuse my term here. I have no idea what the part is called). I am assuming it is some sort of mechanical connection from the part shown above to the flapper motor that is stuck or broken.

Back to your responses. Are you saying you no longer have a problem with the cable movement and with the movement of the blend door arm it is connected to?

Sorry for the confusion. I am still having an issue. What I meant when I said the blend door arm is smooth as in it it originally would click into place for each setting except for the max ac position. It would do that with or without the cable connected. Now it will not. Now it wont click in anything. It moves freely almost like something broke and it is free to move.

You appear to be at the point where you will have to disassemble the unit to find out what broke. Parts availibility may be limited from GM and you may have to find them at a salvage yard.

Alright. I was hoping it was something simple that I did not know about. Well anyways thank you for the help. I really appreciate it.
