Hey all,

I have a 5 speed 2005 Sunfire. My wife drives it. This morning she came in and said it wouldn't turn on. I went out, put the key in the ignition, and turned the key. I had power, but as soon as I depressed the clutch, a loud clicking noise began, until I let the clutch go. No start. No turn over on the engine. Any ideas as to what's wrong?

I'll have to get it towed if I can't fix her myself.
Cheers

You could have a dead battery, turn headlights on, turn key to start, if they go dim dead battery

Did you end up getting this fixed? Having a similar problem on the wife's '05 sunfire.

Sunfire

Yes I did. It was the battery. Seems that if it goes to low, something cuts in and makes that ticking sound.
Stupid battery is a type I've not a lot of experience with, but it can be jumped. The cables actually screw in to the battery--make sure you have a work around, or buy a similar replacement. Be careful when removing, as the thing is screwed to the plate, and I dropped the piece that hold it in place. Their aint a lot of space to work around there either.
