Hello all

My 2006 Grand Am been raising hell with me. Basically very rough running, some time refuses to start. I took it to a mechanic who said it was the fuel pump got it replaced. A few days later right back to the same running. Then they said it was the injectors, so had new rebuilt ones installed. Was running great for a week then right back, he say it's rust in the fuel and it's plugging the injectors again.

Asked about if it was the fuel tank,. He told me it is plastic lined so there can not be any rust there. I have researched I can not find to confirm this or not. I thought fuel lines were either aluminum, or rubber, basically no corrosive.

I thought they would have flushed the tank, and fuel lines and install a new filter once the replaced the injectors/ fuel pump.

Does any one know were it could possibly the rust be coming from. I am at wits end here.

We love our Grand Am... hate to get rid of it. Sorry to say I can build you a home, but can repair your car.

Are you always filling the car up at the same gas station? They may have a corroded tank. Did the mechanic remove the fuel filter while you were watching and pour the contents of the filter into a jar so you could verify the contaminated gas? It is also possible for the liner in the tank to crack permitting the metal to rust.
