2006 Torrent No Power At All

Hi, my girlfriends 2006 Pontiac Torrent is having a weird issue with it. We have had this problem before and seemed to have it resolved until now. As simple as it sounds, the car has absolutely no power at all to it and will not turn over. I have tried boosting the battery and nothing seems to get it going. I have resolved it in the past like I said and how we did it was quite unusual but all we did was move the shifter from Park to Reverse and everything turned back on again and we were able to turn it back on. I have done that this time and I have for a split second got power again by doing this but there is no luck for it to stay on this time. When I put it from Park to Reverse, SOMETIMES it comes on again and when I put it back to Park to turn the car on again, everything shuts off again.

If someone has an idea on this problem please let me know. It is starting to get annoying haha. Thanks

Sounds like a neutral safety switch issue to me. By has no power, do you mean it just will not crank, or is the vehicle completely dead as in no instrument lights or radio or courtesy lights?

The vehicle has absolutely no power, no lights, no hazard lights, no radio...just a dead vehicle in the drive way right now.

as stated could be neutral safety switch or ignition switch.

Just replying with an update, thank you guys for your input, I will take it to a mechanic shortly, but we have had some success as to what it may be, and when we moved the fuse box under the hood a little bit (because it was loose) the power seemed to have turned back on for a bit, but there is a short somewhere in that area, so now we know the problem area at least. Thanks again guys.
