2006 Torrent with 2008 engine 🤦🏾‍♂️

Ok so as you see by the description im in big trouble.

Have a 2006 torrent and it needed an engine. Got a replacement engine from a friend and didn't know until after its been installed by my mechanic and it didn't/won't start that the engine was from a 2008. Narrowed it down to the crank & some more of the inners of the engine is different even tho engines look exactly alike from the naked eye.

So now I'm here to ask....

If there's anything I can do OTHER than finding another 2006 engine ans doing another swap.

I know this is a crazy post thats all over the place. But I can really use some help.

What does your mechanic say?
How come he didn't check it before installing it?
Not clear why it wont start, what happens?

08 has 56 tooth crank relector. 06 has 24 tooth reluctor. So, I think you have an issue.
let me make a WAG, you have a 3.4 motor? Not 3.6?

So he would need an 08 ecm for a 3.4 and possibly engine wire harness?

I cannot answer that. Im not even sure how many gm rigs use the 3.4 from 2005-2009
i know the LS v8 motors have the reluctor wheel issue too
