Hi,

Love this site!

Hoping someone knows, or has experience with a low oil pressure light that stays on for 1 to 8 seconds???? Today it happened 7 or 8 times. This is a work truck.

Thanks for any help.

Is the oil level low? Is the oil old and with a lot of miles on it? It may need changed? How many miles on the van?

Thanks for replies. Oil is good. Happens when driving, happened once while at a stop light.

It happened 7 times yesterday.

The oil life indicates 14% left.

Do the oil pressure lights fail?

Thanks for replies.

Thanks for the replies. Even if I checked with gage, would it not need to be at the same time as low oil pressure light is activated? It is usually activated for a few seconds at a time.

Is the sender the same as the sensor? What about changing it? It is a cheap part. What about the oil cap, it could reduce oil pressure.

if the pressure is good with a warm engine both at idle and higher speeds the sensor should be replaced. You can try replacing it if you dont want to do the test. The filler cap has nothing to do with oil pressure.

GM Dealer wanted $240 to replace.

Glad to hear you got it fixed and thanks for posting what fixed it.
