2007 Pontiac Solstice GT in the works

They want to go toe-to-toe with a Miata with a Turbo (2.2 of 2.4, didnt want to read all 4 pages) Ecotec?

If its the Eco they used in the Sunfires / Cavaliers, then theres no way in a blue moon they could run with a Miata (from what ive seen).

If its the NEW Saturn Eco (2.4) then i could SOMEWHAT see it, but 240Hp, they should of just dropped a earlier (regular) 2.4 Turbocharged (T04e) engine in, then maybe, just maybe they might have a chance to run with them as far as engine wise.

Looks, well i think the dual exhaust just sets it off. Plus theres nothing like seeing a Intercooler when your backing up into a parking space (taking up 3-4 of them mind you).

form this months motor trend:"...2.2L turbo with 6 sp. manual...around 240hp...". if it weights less than 2800 lbs then it would be quite the competition for the Miata. as long as they get the handling right.

Thanks for the elaboration. Ok but i still don't see how it would hang with a Miata... i mean don't get me wrong, the Eco is a somewhat good motor, i just don't like them :p

I guess we need to see some video of them on the track together (both stock) and see which would take the cake so to speak

i've been to auto-x's competing in the sunfire and the miatas were like go-karts! just they were low on power. the new miata MX-5 only has 178hp. so, if pontiac keeps the weight down on the solstice and gets the handling right, then the miata will be in trouble.

i say the hell with competing with the miata. Pontiac needs to bring back the 455 SD motor, stuff it in the solstice, put a 12 point roll cage in it and go after the shebly cobra's. that would be awsome!
