The "liftgate ajar" is constantly displayed on my message centre and the interior lights are on. Of course my remote start will not work either because the computer thinks the liftgate is open even though it is securely closed. I have lubed the latch and closed it repeatedly but no joy. Any advice on this one? Thanks.

Maybe reset your ecu by disconnecting the battery? Perhaps bad switch/sensor ? If you can jump out the switch to fake out computer ?

Check for door contacts. A light rub with wet sand paper or something greater than 600 grit will clean them off. Apply some dielectric grease to prevent them from oxidizing again.
