2007 torrent EGR mystery

I have a 2007 torrent it had a check engine light on for p0404 so I replaced the Egr valve . it was fine for a week now it comes and goes as a pending code some help would be great

How many miles do you have on your vehicle?

Did you inspect the old EGR valve for carbon build up?

My guess would be the vehicle has high mileage and significant carbon build up.

147,000 miles yes it was dirty but i replaced it with a new one

we all understand you replaced it with a new one but did you read the link that EaOutLaw provided and the possible causes and solutions?
Did you clear any carbon deposits in the passage way that the valve sits?
