Over the years I have found out the best way to put a value on a car is to see what other ones are selling for , a good guide is autotrader,edmunds,craigslist, ect... A lot of factors come to play and the most common ground is supply and demand . What I found is the best time is before Thanksgiving,Christmas season that's when they are the slowest and are ready to move on every sale . But back to your question I would research 5 Montana's comparable to the one you are interested in and that would give you a good feel .Don't be afraid to do a 100 mile radius search , some poorer cities might have better deals and of course bicker down from the asking price this is a mere starting point,also private sellers seem to have a better deal and more honest.
