Ok so I just changed my wife ATF, gasket, filter all that good stuff this past weekend. The car has 163k miles on it... and it was shifting harder than what i thought it should through the gears (1st to 2nd, and 2nd to 3rd i think) so when i changed the fluid i added a bottle of the lucas transmission oil (significantly thicker)

Shes having a tough time removing the car from park (the button is being pressed in firmly) could this have somthing to do with the lucas oil being thicker when its cold? she said once she lets the car warm up 10-15 minutes theres no problem pulling it out of park.

Now its like 5-10 degrees here in pa with all the wind and all factored in. but thats not low enough for ATF to freeze as that tempurature is atleast -35 according to my research on google

can anyone offer any advise on my dilema?

Thanks folks

I realize it's quite a coincedence but the shift mechanism is electrical in nature, the brake pedal has to be pushed which releases a lock solenoid for the shifter. I would take a look at the brake switch to see if it is sticking due to the cold. Watch the brake lights to see if they come on immediately while your wife is trying to take the car out of park.
