4 speed trans check

Can someone please tell me how to check my trans fluid level on my 4 speed 98 sunfire thanks

With the vehicle raised look for the fill plug on the firewall side of the transmission case.

Thanks again,do I check fluid with plug out and engine running or will that cause damage ?

Thanks as always! Now once I find the plug do I check it with the engine running, poring fluid in till it runs out the hole?

Just to be clear this is a manual transmission?

No it is automatic, another question i told the guy at my napa store that I need automatic transmission fluid for my 98 sunfire and he gave me dex/merc should that be ok?

OK, lets start from the beginning most people simply state they have an automatic or manual not the number of gears.
The fluid level is checked on a fully warmed up running engine with the car level.
The check plug is towards the front of the car.
Dex is Dexron which if it meets Dexron III standards is fine.
