I have a 2005 pontiac sunfire with the automatic 4T45E with 135k miles. I still have park, reverse, neutral, and 1st gear of drive. Whether in drive or manually selecting gears it will not go any higher than 1st gear. No second or even a skip over to third. Just first. I have 3 engine codes. 2 shift solenoids and the torque converter clutch solenoid. I replaced all 3 solenoids, new trans filter and gasket and topped off the fluid. Nothing has changed. I tried unhooking the batter and erasing the codes. They come back within seconds once the car is cranked. What is my next course of action here? I've seen a few other posts talking about the TCM or TCM connectors. Where is this located and what am I looking for?

What are the codes?

I'm new to transmission work and based off what I could find on Google my best approach was change all 3 solenoids.

There appear to be more possibilities than just solenoids. A more advanced tool that can actually activate solenoids would be required to determine the problem.

Is there anything you would check in the mean time? I'll have it hooked up as soon as I can. I sure hope I didn't replace those for nothing. That was on mfr of a job. I knew all 3 wouldn't go out at the same time but while doing research I found some people saying the TCC going bad would trip the other 2 codes as well. I dont know how accurate that is but it all made sense to me.

Did you read the link? Those are the suggestions for determining the cause. You can check the other codes on the same site.

Apologies. It didn't pop up as a link to begin with. Terrible signal at the moment I'm guessing. I'll read over it. Thank you.

Looking at the codes it seems like the ecu isnt picking up on the signal to shift, could be a wiring issue or a connectivity thing.
