I have a 87 originally had the 5.0...was swapped with a 5.7 l98 with a mild cam..idleing high...doesn't seem to have the power you would expect out of the hole...should I change the computer or is there something else I should do?? Bought the car after the engine swap so I'm not sure what's going on with it....also when you step on the brakes the parking lights also turn on...the guy I bought it from Said it didn't do it before the engine swap...does anybody have any ides??

have you checked for codes in the computer?
the high idle could be a vacuum leak or other issue which would effect performance.
i would check the condition of the ground connections for the brake light problem and also make sure somebody hasnt messed with the rear wire harness.
