5 speed install

Is the 5 speed from the older style 2.2 the same as the 5 speed from the newer style 2.2. My 3rd gear synchro is going and I can get a transaxle from a newer 2.2 for free just want to know if it will bolt in the same and that how the shifter cables and reverse light switch and all that are the same

if you are comparing a 2.2 ohv engine and a 2.2 Ecotec engine they are not the same and it is doubtful that the transmission mounting surface would be the same.
