64 catalina hood latch problem

I shut the hood on my 64 Catalina and now when I pull the lever nothing happens. Does anyone know how to open the darn thing?

Have you tried looking up behind the grill from under the car to see if you can spot the issue?
Have you tried pushing down on the hood while pulling the handke?

Yes, I tried looking up under the grill but with the splash pan and bumper in the way I can see nothing. Pushing down on the hood does not help. If someone could open their 64 Catlina hood and take a picture of the bolted down latch and then pull the lever and take another picture maybe I could figure out how it is supposed to open.

If you google "1964 Catalina hood latch" you will see one on Ebay still attached to the vertical support.

Hope this helps. First two images are of the latch in the closed position with the hood raised. The second two are with the latch in the open position with the hood raised.
