So whenever I cruise on the highway in third gear and I accelerate, it randomly shifts down into second for no reason. Any advice? Does anyone know a guy who knows how to work on Hydramatics in southern VA?

I believe the Hydramatic uses a switch connected to the gas pedal or throttle cable which causes the downshift. It sounds like you need to adjust the switch so that it engages at wide open throttle not partial throttle.

Also is it a 4 speed Hydramatic? or a later 3 speed RotoMatic?
